To what extent can characters determine the outcome of their lives when faced with formidable events beyond their control ?

Lucy works at her families business, The Turtle Creek Newspaper. Unfortunately, like most small businesses of today it is not doing so well. So Lucy decided they needed a new editor to try and bring things around.
Joe has a degree in journalism and he seems like the answer to a prayer. He writes from the heart, just like Lucy knows they need. He is from the big city, Chicago to be precise. It looks like things are looking up for the newspaper, but things are not always what they seem. Is Joe really a dream come true or will he end up being her worse nightmare?
The Christmas Edition was a lovely read. I kept trying to figure just what it was that Joe was hiding. Just as I thought I had figured it out something else happened. It will keep you wondering from start to finish if there really can be a happy ending.
